Taqueria Nueve is an authentic Mexican food resturant in Portland, Oregon. The recipes are from the owner’s experiences in Mexico; fresh tortillas are rolled and pressed daily. Authenticity and community are the pillars of this local gem.
In April of 2020 Taqueria Nueve, like millions of other restaurants in the U.S., was brought to a screeching halt. The website at the time was outdated and in much need of an overhaul. Most importantly, customers needed online ordering. And the social media presence needed to be stepped-up to capture the tastebuds of everyone stuck at home.

The original website was built in 2014 and there was no strong imagery or branding to make an impression. With a minimal budget and a quick timeline, it was essential to keep the overall look Bright. Fresh. Bold.

Taqueria Nueve, like many local restaurants, lacked a marketing budget. The T9 team struggled to add strong content to their Instagram feed. Featured below are examples of the grid which consisted of several repeating images, amateur copy overlays, and unstylized photography.

Taqueria Nueve has amazing food and drinks, and the location is awesome. Not much was needed but to get a few drinks mixed, some tacos served up, and we were ready to shoot. We highlighted the people behind the food, which helped craft richer storytelling and keep the T9 community engaged.

Results
Engagement went up over 50%. Customers stayed loyal, and the restaurant celebrated their 9th Anniversary in 2023.
